Uber Paying College Tuition for its Top Drivers

Uber is introducing a new Pro rewards program to give incentive to its top drivers. Some of the rewards include discounts on gas and car maintenance and cash back deals on purchases with an Uber credit card. Most interestingly, however, is one of the highest incentives for the absolute cream of the crop: free college.

Uber has partnered with Arizona State University to offer full tuition for the school’s undergraduate online degree program. To obtain, for example, a Business Administration degree with ASU Online, you would need to pay approximately $15,078 for a single academic year. With that in mind, a full free college ride would be quite a deal to any who could earn it. To sweeten the pot, Uber has also offered to transfer the tuition cost to a family member or dependent of the driver who claims it, though that does mean not claiming it themselves. ASU Online offers over 80 different degrees, and since they are online, they can conform to an Uber driver’s likely busy schedule.

This initiative is part of Uber’s “180 Days of Change,” a sleight of changes and improvements to the company to encourage drivers to stay on-board instead of moving to different apps like Lyft. To qualify for tuition, drivers must maintain at least a 4.85 star service rating, and have very few cancellations.
