### Second Leak In Keystone Pipeline In Two Years Spills Into Wetlands
#### Another leak in the Keystone pipeline has resulted in approximately 383,000 gallons of oil spreading into the wetlands of North Dakota. This incident marks the second such leak in a span of two years.
According to reports, the volume of the spill is equivalent to the size of an Olympic swimming pool.
The Keystone Pipeline, stretching over 2,600 miles, transports oil from Alberta, Canada to Southern Texas. Despite being less than a decade old, the pipeline has faced significant criticism from environmental activists throughout its operational history. In a previous major spill caused by a leak, more than 400,000 gallons of oil had contaminated a vast area of agricultural land in South Dakota.
Opposition to the Keystone pipeline has been robust, particularly from environmentalists and tribal communities whose territories stand in the path of the pipeline. Environmental groups have deemed the Keystone pipeline as one of the most pressing environmental issues in the United States. Plans for multiple pipeline extensions are currently under consideration.
