You’re Snacking Way Too Much at the Office & This is When Your Cravings Peak

Snacking At Work

If you reach for a snack out of boredom every day at the office, you will need to spend a lot of extra time at the gym.

A new poll shows the extra calories you eat while snacking at work add up to a mind blowing 100,000 calories a year for the average woman. The food brand Kallo conducted a survey that showed that snacking at work can add up to up to 50 days’ worth of extra food that you consume each year. The Sun broke down these statistics even further: they determined that each woman would consume 135 biscuits, 90 pieces of cake, and 45 donuts at her desk each year.

Fridays are the days that most people tended to over indulge and reach for something sweet. The peak times people tended to reach for an extra sweet snack were 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Many people blame this phenomenon on their coworkers for bringing in the treats. On the plus side, 47% of people were shown to reach for fruit as much as possible when they are hungry during the workday.

However, instead of drinking water to quench our thirst, most of us reach for a caffeinated drink such as a highly sweetened coffee. Adding whipped cream during an extra stressful day is a sure way to pack in the calories. Curb any bad habits of mindless eating by being aware of when your cravings typically hit and stock protein – packed, healthy choices to choose from instead.
