Nope, Not Going To Retire!
When you get to a certain age it’s almost inevitable, everyone expects you to retire. But what if you just don’t want to? Well, a recent poll shows that almost half of baby boomers expect to work until age 66 or even beyond that. However, working into your golden years can be a bit of a challenge. When speaking with Patricia Smith of New Directions Managing Director, she says that this has been happening for quite a while now.
•They want to stay active and involved.
•Enjoy working.
•Keep health insurance or other benefits.
•Need money to make ends meet.
•Want money to buy extras.
•Try a different career.
But, if it’s optional, how do you figure out if you should keep working or not? So, what you really need to be looking at is what motivates you, are you align with your values, is the reason you want to work is because of your fellow co-workers?
However, there are a lot of jobs where your boss is going to expect you to retire. How do you address this? Well, it’s important to plan head to stay and that’s just as important as planning ahead to leave.
