If you’re the kind of traveler who sleeps on top of hotel’s bed sheets, New York City has the highest number of clean hotels in the country. The big apple has 161 award-winning properties in town, so if you’re worried about blood-stained walls, you can visit one of the many award-winning accommodations. The other best cities when it comes to their selection of very clean hotels are, in order of precedence, Houston, Washington DC, Orlando, Charlotte, Austin, Nashville, San Diego, Anaheim, and San Antonio.
The annual report by AAA covers over 27,000 resorts and hotels across the US. The 117 year old car, travel, and financial services federation inspects accommodations properties using a diamond rating system like the typical 5-star rating system found in most apps today. This information is used to advise over 59 million AAA members. To collect these awards, the winners must demonstrate their excellent cleanliness standards in two separate inspections. They must also be free of any complaints from AAA members, so you know that they’re being extremely stringent about handing these awards out. “The vast majority of AAA Inspected & Approved hotels fall in the midscale, three Diamond range, so those that earn the Inspector’s Best Of Housekeeping badge are a step above in a way that matters to today’s discerning traveler,” explained Michael Petrone, the director of AAA’s Inspections & Diamond Ratings.
