Most people check on line for their credit score and wonder what is a good credit score? Like most things in life there is no fast answer. Your credit score is most likely based off of the method used by your particular lender.
Different scoring systems use different scales and different lenders use different systems. But, if you have a good credit score from one of the top big three agencies such as Experian, Equifax, and Transunion, then your likely to have a good score elsewhere. Lets make it simple:
Most credit score companies rank on a scale from 350-850. The higher the score the less of a financial risk you are seen by creditors, landlords, and prospective employers.
Generally speaking a score from 650 or higher is considered good by most credit score agencies with the national average being around 692.
A lower score can be caused by a lot of different reasons. Past behavior for example could mean your track record hasn’t always been perfect. Recent behavior can also play a major part. Like if a person has just taken on some new credit.
Not enough behavior can even have an impact. For example, if you don’t have enough credit, then that makes it hard to evaluate you.
So at the end of the day you want to focus on balance. You want to make sure that you are paying everything on time, making sure you build your credit, and keep on top of staying active in your credit history. By doing all of this you will be on your way to a good credit score in no time!
