One Greek Island Is Paying Young Families To Live & Work There

# A Greek Island Offers Incentives for Young Families to Reside and Work There

## Have you ever fancied the idea of residing on a picturesque and serene island?

Greece has come up with a plan to pay young families to relocate, settle down, and work on the enchanting island of Antikythera. Antikythera, known for its remote location, has been grappling with a dwindling population, and the proposed solution is to encourage migration through financial incentives.

Similar to initiatives in Sicily and Sardinia, the goal of this endeavor is to invigorate the population and economy of Antikythera by providing financial support to new residents. The local diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church is striving to attract more individuals to the island. Although priority will be given to Greek nationals, individuals from any nationality can opt to participate in the program. Families who join the program will receive land and a house on the island. Furthermore, they will be granted a monthly allowance of 500 Euros for the initial three years of their stay on the island.

Antikythera’s challenge is quite straightforward. Despite being celebrated for its natural splendor, pristine waters, and picturesque mountains, the official population of the island stands at a mere 20 individuals. This situation poses a significant concern for the local economy. Much like other parts of Greece, Antikythera is grappling with an ageing populace and a shortage of young residents to fuel economic growth. The island’s situation is compounded by its remote location, making the need for young families to relocate even more crucial. It is anticipated that with an influx of young families to this breathtaking island, Antikythera can thrive and sustain a robust local economy.
