July 17th commemorates emojis, those tiny characters we’ve all grown accustomed to. According to Slack, these emojis offer more benefits and wonders than we realize.
Every day, countless emojis are exchanged, and each week, workplace communication platform Slack witnesses millions of “reacjis,” which are emotional reactions. According to this global company, emojis not only bring a touch of cuteness but also play a significant role in boosting workplace efficiency. Emojis streamline various crucial forms of communication, making it quicker and easier. Instead of crafting a message from scratch, a simple click on an emoji can convey a message that would otherwise demand more time and effort to articulate. While it may seem trivial, in a fast-paced work setting reliant on constant communication, emojis are a genuine asset. Arturo Arrante, the head of Asia-Pacific growth at Slack, stated to Business Insider, “It changes the game because they’re no longer having to do all the overhead of typing characters on their phone. [They say] ‘hey, I’ve clicked a button — I’ve already finished that task’.”
Although Slack offers practical examples of using emojis, other companies are also recognizing their benefits. Xero, an accounting platform, leverages emojis to address customer queries efficiently. Instead of long explanations, a simple emoji aids employees in promptly assisting customers on a regular basis. A study by TechSmith revealed that 67% of employees perform better when presented with visual communication rather than text, as they absorb information more rapidly.
