Reason being a dispute over quick holiday shipping
Amazon has suspended the use of FedEx Ground by its sellers for shipping Amazon Prime orders. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the ban will continue until FedEx’s delivery services enhance. From September, Amazon ceased using FedEx Ground for its own shipments. Nonetheless, the third-party sellers on Amazon could still use the service until this Tuesday.
This action by Amazon arises during the holiday season, known for its heavy shipping load. This time of year is also prone to adverse weather conditions that impact deliveries. Additionally, there are fewer days between Christmas and Easter this year, adding strain to the shipping network in the United States.
The relationship between FedEx and Amazon has been evolving into a competitive one. Amazon introduced one-day shipping, and FedEx promptly responded with Sunday shipping. In August, FedEx chose not to renew its shipping agreement with Amazon for carrying Amazon goods on FedEx planes.
Despite benefiting from Amazon’s business in the past, both companies are prospering independently. Amazon has significantly improved its shipping operations, while FedEx maintains contracts with major retailers like Walmart, Walgreens, and others.
