It’s okay to have breaks in your career.
In the past, there was a belief that career gaps were detrimental to your resume. However, nowadays, there is more acceptance of the importance of work-life balance. Whether you take a break voluntarily or due to circumstances, having a career gap occasionally is not the end of the world.
Employers, especially younger ones, understand the need for balance between work and personal life. With the current state of the job market, experiencing a period without a job is not uncommon. During an interview, you might be asked about what you did during your career gap. As long as you were productive during that time, it won’t be held against you.
If you find yourself temporarily out of work, see it as an opportunity. While finding a new job should be a priority, you can utilize the extra time to learn a new skill, a language, or expand your network. Turning your career gap into a period of personal growth can make it a positive aspect on your resume rather than a negative one.
