26,000 Consumers Energy Customers Still Without Service After Storms

Friday and Saturday’s storms left 194,000 homes and businesses without power, though Consumers Energy managed to restore most properties back to normal.

About 26,000 customers of Consumers Energy remained without power throughout the state of Michigan following the weekends’ storms. Guy Packard, vice president of electric operations at Consumers Energy stated in a press release, “We appreciate the patience of our customers as the restoration work has moved into its fourth day following a violent storm that ripped through Michigan leaving significant damage in its wake last Friday. Our priority over the next 16 hours will be to take advantage of ideal weather conditions as we restore customers still impacted as safely and quickly as we can. The majority of the affected customers will be restored by the end of the day Tuesday.”

In addition to the rush to restore power for customers in the state, Consumers Energy has been passing out water and ice in Jenison, near Grand Rapids, MI. While it’s not certain that all customers will have their power back soon, the company expects to finish up restoration by the end of Tuesday.

If you’re in the affected area and would like to report an outage or receive information, you can reach the company at their website.
